I wouldn't post anything questionable on here anyway, but thank you for the info.
And for some who still live in the Stone Age (NDS or NDUS)Freakinout said:Not Safe For Work
Also there is NWS (Not Work Safe) and NKS (Not Kid Safe)
better to ask and know...
Yeah, what's that? I think I read somewhere that it was a primitive technology first used to connect to the internet.Pinhy said:whats this "dial up" you are referring to??
However, if an employee's productivity at work was down and the boss saw him viewing such non-work related material during working hours, would be it not be grounds for being laid off at the next moment of convenience? Interestingly, I've noticed that a good number of European motorcycle sites do not have bare breasted women pictures, although a few do. That tells me that overall they want motorcycle content, which is their central focus. :wink:inspiron said:This is a north American site, meaning that the NSFW tag applies to the somewhat Victorian US standards, not the European standards. If I want to see a bare breasted woman in Europe, all I have to do is browse to any tabloid newspaper homepage. "Playboy" type photos aren't considered pornographic ... it is only considered pornographic when it shows a sexual act (or an erect male organ).
 That is not a dumb analogy. It is the image of the Forum that is at stake. Some US employers will allow employees to view personal material during their lunch hour and prior to and after working hours. However, this forum could be banned by an IT manager and blocked if it was detected to have inappropriate material on it. All it takes is one picture. Could you imagine being banned by a large university or big corporation? Or being required to shut down or curtail because someone complained to your server provider?themeatmanlandry said:Common sense dictates that we defer to the lesser standard . . . i.e. if any single person could get in trouble by clicking on it in front of their mom/child/boss/spouse, we put the tag on it.
It's kind of like adapting to differing world cultures. In some parts of the world, the bottom of your shoe is like giving "the finger," yt "the finger" means nothing. So, if we were on a medium that crossed both fo these boundaries, wewould have to respect both cultures by not giving "the finger" or showing the bottom of our shoes.
Dumb analogy, but it's all I've got.
