Aloha again all! I'm looking into getting some accessories for my new S50. I'd like to get a sissy bar/back rest, saddlebag supports, and saddlebags. Is there a difference between the "universal" ones I see at the stores and on online and the ones Suzuki makes that are model specific...besides the price tag that is?

As for the person who wanted me to post a pic of me and my bike...uhm, I'm still trying to figure out how to do that! It keeps telling me the file is too big but when I do upload to where it will accept it, it's small. I apologize, I'll figure it out soon.

Nice pic! Nice bike too!

I'm sure someone with your bike will be along shortly to help you out.

How is the riding going? Still having fun at it?

I cant say for sure, but Im guessing accessories are like any aftermarket product, compared to oem parts.
Oem parts may have tighter tolerances to their products compared to aftermarket products.
In layman terms, the oem products may fit better than aftermarket products.
But all in all, if you purchase an aftermarket product that states it will work on your bike, I wouldn't worry about the differences between oem and aftermarket.

As far as the sissy bar goes,, I have been told by numerous people that the one for my bike that Suzuki makes is alot stronger and thicker. I am still looking into the bags and I would really look into the supports that keep the bags off of the bike all together. Plus alot of them are removable with just the turn of a key.

Wow!!! You must be Hawaiian(sp),,,, do you surf? I am going to Jacksonville this weekend and I am going to try to catch a few swells. We will have to meet up. You and your husband will have to go riding around down there when you get up to it and feel comfortable with your bike.

I talked to my friend in Macon and he said that sounded like a good idea,, keep practicing!!!!

Did you go check out Capitol Cycles?? If you do remember to ask them if that's the best price you can do. There is a place up here in Atlanta where I have started buying things from and they have good prices,,, it's called Cycle Gear,, they ship and they have a catalog. They can order anything,, #- 770-272-9873,,, also call Metric Thunder and see what they have,, I just ordered my Mustang Seat from them alot cheaper than anyone # 1-866-744-7900.

Have fun!!!

That "shortly" comment was a pun, wasn't it, heheheheh.

As for the riding...LOVING IT!! I can't put into words the feeling of freedom and enjoyment when I'm riding her. I've had a few vehicles just pull right out in front of me but remembering what I learned in the MSF course has been such a great help.

I think I will definitely go with Suzuki's sissy bar then, my intended passenger is my daughter.

You got my ethnicity right, I'm from Hawai`i and yes, I'm a long way from home being in southern GA! I surfed when I was younger but I've been "landlocked" for a while now. I'm jealous about you going to J'ville this weekend, hope you get plenty sweet swells!

I did tell my husband about Capitol Cycles and he agrees, we should take a weekend to go check it out along with some other stores but it's not going to be for at least a couple of weeks. We've got so much to do over the next couple of weeks with the rotational deployments changing over; we have people leaving as soon as this Sunday for the sandbox and people coming back. Hubby tends to his "people" and I help tend to their family members. When all that dies down and before my own hubby leaves in July, we are definitely taking a weekend or two and just getting out there!

I guess I'm all confused because there's not many things out there branded as "S50" as there are for the previous year's model, the Intruder 800. And since I don't know what the differences are, I'm leary of purchasing something that won't end up fitting.

For the Sissy bar, I'll be going with Suzuki's OEM part since my intended passenger will be my daughter.

I believe for the saddlebags, I'd go with the OEM Suzuki brand. My wife has them on her Intruder and they look pretty nice, especially with the embossed Intruder on the side.

aloha! that was me that asked for you to post a pic with the bike....even at 4-10 you look to fit pretty well. congrats on getting started.

being a surfer and from the islands, being in GA is a LONG way from home, and i dont mean in miles. middle of GA is just....just.....NOT hawaii! haha i lived in Columbus, GA for a couple years and used to get out across the state for different reasons a lot.

Veautiful Valdosta

I often do work at Moody. I am a contractor to Tinker EIG/38. I have a project coming up there to implement SIPRNET for about 16 buildings on the base.
We perfomed all of the systems cutover for the new RAPCON there also about two years ago.

I have a C90T and I have found some great prices on OEM accessories on EBAY. I have bought the Lightbar at about half price. I just added Vance and Hines longshots. I have added the chrome drive shaft cover half price, and the fender trim for about half price. All on ebay. (except the V&H pipes)

Good looking bike.......

Well,, no swells this weekend :thumbsdo: There was a strong easternly wind all weekend and that coupled wtih the already dead surf made for a lake Placid effect. So another weekend. They were all breaking at the shore,, pretty much just a giant saltwater lake this weekend,, but there will be another weekend!!!!

Good luck on those accesories(sp),, when you all get caught up with the deployments drop me a line,,we will all have to meet up.
