On the top of the shock body, there is a collar and a lock ring. You can either get a spanner tool, or use the hammer/punch method to move the lock ring in alignment with the collar. Then you can tap the collar clockwise to add preload, counterclockwise to subtract it.

Where are you wanting to set the sag at? You should also set up the front of the bike as well.

i just need it a little more preload for when my wife rides with me. i tried it on the stock settings and it felt ways to soft. and i would like to adjust the front to because it feels really soft too. but i was told that the forks are nonadjustable.
