Hi - this is my first post, I need your advice please,

I run a small motorcycle tour business in Portugal - www.motocadia.com and am looking at adding the V strom 1000 to my bike list, what do you think of it? The average weekly mileage is 800 miles, a season around 20,000 - what goes wrong? what falls off? Roads wil be - mountain passes. motorways, B class roads, curves etc. Is it easy to ride? does it have an appeal? if so to what people?

Any help appreciated

Thank  s

v-strom

My 2000 V-Strom has been 100% reliable for all of it's 12000 km

It is very easy to ride and has a narrow, light feel so it shouldn't intimidate riders like a BMW gs1150 would. The styling doesn't appeal to everyone, but anyone who rides them comes away surprised with the performance. It is very good right from slow 1st gear offroading to high speed highway travels. It is also very comfortable for two up riding with a reasonably good stock seat and a remote preload adjustment.

This bike would be a good choice. check out www.advrider.com as well where there are many posts about the V-Stroms

My name on that site is "dr650bc" and I have posted many ride reports

VStrom 1000 rental

I have a VStrom 650 and would suggest it over the 1000. Seat height is lower which will attract more riders. It's lighter and handles better and has enough power; the 1000 is a lot of bike. The 650 uses the SV650 engine which is tried and proven. Plus the 650 is about $2400 cheaper. Hope this helps.

i've got the poor man's case on the rear v-strom - a mountain co-op duffle bag  The v-strom in front belongs to scooter and I think the case may be from Kappa. I can check when we ride again or you could go to www.advrider.com and pm "scooter"

by the way, the v-Stroms handled the mountain roads around whistler very well.
