I have to replace my levers on my 99 nighthawk 750 because one broke. I want to use aftermarket levers but I have no idea how to tell which ones are compatible with my bike.

All the pages I have found just tell you how to replace them and not how to find ones that work for your bike.

Can I use any generic long lever?? I thought there were specific types of levers to press the certian switches

Have you done any searching yet ?
Doesn't the description of replacement levers say what bikes they are compatible with ?

And yes you are right; if there are micro switches that are activated by the lever itself, you need the right ones.

I don't KNOW if they are all exactly alike but I doubt it.
I once had trouble with a switch not activating......caused by a replacement lever that a previous owner had put on.

You may have to just gamble.
I think I would either buy one from a local shop OR get a stock replacement.
