I just got my 03 GSX-R 600 and sometimes there is a constant noise/sound that seems to be coming from the gas tank. When I press on the tank it subsides, or if I get on the bike and move it it will also stop. Can anyone help me with this problem? I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

It's a common GSXR venting problem. Most noticeable when parked after a ride on a warm day (but Uncle Bob wouldn't know "warm days") Yet. My 02 1k does it as well. Once in a while it will cause the fuel injector trouble warning to flash(FI) alternating with the engine temp. To clear it park the bike turn off the engine open and close the fuel cap. Restart bike. Gauges should be normal.

I have yet to find a permanent solution for it. Any one know how to resolve this on a permanent basis?

There is a little pin hole in the fuel cap that allows air in to adjust the pressure inside the tank as the petrol is used - to stop there being a vacuum. This ain't blocked is it?

The vent hole on my fuel cap appears to be clear of any obstruction. Maybe it is a "California" problem since mine and tKeJoE450 are both in Cal. The bikes here have some additional smog crap to meet state regs. Could be something in that or the fuel recovery that is causing it. I notice it more on hot days after long rides. At those times, I can open the cap and vent it, but in a couple minutes it starts doing it again.
