Sorry. Every newbie needs thier own gear thread, and i apologize if this stuff is repeated, but i would like to get opinions on the gear i have chosen from the experienced guys. I did look through quite a few search pages of old threads, but couldn't find much info on the gear im thinking of.

Im trying to combine saftey and comfort at a not TOTALLY wallet breaking price.

Teknic Chicane Leather Pants - $230
Teknic Chicane Leather Jacket - $175
Sidi On Road Sympatex Boots - $260
Suomy Spec-1 R Black - $385
Icon Hooligan Gloves - $55

Also considering alternatives. Im thinking about the Icon Motorhead jacket which i found for $289. Please make all suggestions. Different gear, and other places to look. I found the best prices on newenough.com but motorcycle-superstore.com had a few good deals as well.

Thanks in advance.

my advise, try to buy a pants that zip together to a jaket /vise versa/, also I would reccomend to go to a store and try it all. Then if you want, order it on line, but make shure it fits snuggly and you like the way it feels and the way it looks on you.

Hey Mike go check out some shops and find your real size. Moto gear sizes vary a lot by manufacturer. If you have a wide foot you might fit Alpinestar SMX boots better than Sidi. At least that was how it was for me. Sidi's just felt to narrow.

Cycle Gear will order anything you want. No deposit and if you don't like it you are not committed to buying it. Great store to get about anything.

If you ever get up this way go to Chaparral Motorsports in San Berna dino. Huge store, good website too.

Once you know your size, check Ebay for leathers. Lockhart Phillips is always clearancing last seasons gear there for some great prices. I forget the name they do it under?

Buy gear that matches your bike's color, nothing else matters more.

Allow me to illustrate.

Notice the flowing use of yellow and black thru out the apperal being worn. The yellow and black of they helmet carried onto the pallet of the jacket along with the dash of yellow on teh fob watch and the black of the boots. Color keying your apperal is of up most importance while riding a sport bike. So buy what you like, just make sure it matches to make a bold statement on the roads of your town!!!!!

Following Nexus' vein:

The blue of the jeans, while not in total agreeance with the rest of the ensemble, still represents an integral part of the fashion statement. Were we to sample the ambiance of the rider himself, we would find a most fluid, natural approach to all things in motion . . . including the aquatic side of life. By wearing the blue in addition to the yellow/black scheme, Mr. Nexus is offering the viewer a gentle reminder that we are all human, and that we are all a significant part of the naturally-occurring world around us. Even when riding a modern machine at speed.

In short, the blue serves to conjure up recollections of a simpler time . . . at triple digit speeds.

Buddy I WAS Miss USA . . . best three minutes of my life. If I had bought better duct tape, they never would have stripped me of the crown . . . stupid swimsuit competition!!

You'd think the body hair/odor would have tipped them off. To think . . . I 'dated' all those judges for nothing.

That Motorhead for 289 is a good buy. Its a well made jacket. If you're looking for a zipper to attach to your pants, this NOT the jacket. But then, this is not a racing jacket, either.

Mine has broken in nicely, and held up well in my minor fall. A few scuffs (battle scars) is all it received; I had to replace the helmet and gloves, but not the jacket (just the CE pads). Its vented, but warm. Not for hot weather use.

Hey I have the same jacket and almost the same situation, although I thing my fall was more minor than yours because there was nothing on my gloves or something else. Only a little pain in my right shoulder for day or two. Anyway, whit kind of pads did you replaced it with?
I checked on Sidi, but I'm not shure if they're gonna fit.
