I'm the proud owner of a new Intruder 800 and am wondering if there are any "things" I should be aware of. Any problems? Any suprises good or bad from other owners? Anything not in the manual or that the dealer won't tell you? Just checking. So far mine is great except for squeeky front brakes. Probably breaking in but I'll ask the dealer when they open again. (What's up with Sundays and Mondays off for all these motorcycle dealers)

Squeaky brakes are usually the result of breaking them in too easy, take the opprtunity to get familiar with them.

Find a quiet road and practice fast stops using front brakes ( without locking up the wheel of course), no need to go crazy, just slow from maybe 50 to 10 mph in progressivily harder stop ( actually I don't want you to come to a full stop to avoid overheating the disks ).

By using the front brakes in a mild manner you are just glazing them which causes squealing. If they are glazed that can be corrected, actually there was a sticky in mechanics corner explaining it but it seems to have dissapeared, I'll repost it if I find it.

Agree with Uncle Bob,

I found that applying the breaks hard right off and easing back cuts down on squeel. I tend to change the breaking pressure as I come to a stop. I do still get some squeel, but nothing like I did. The only other thing I may say here is if you have the ingnition key attached to the fork lock key and in the ingition riding the fork key can rub against the kick plate. I learned the hadr way, to make sure the loop is infront og the ingnition key and in a possition that keep the key to where it does not rub. If you are not lke me, you can sepperate the keys, but I would loose the lock key for sure.
A freind suggested I place a nut and bolt through both keys and permanently fasten them together. I do widh they would have just had one key for both. Other than that I love the bike too much to even think of trading of selling.
