i'm just wondering what the average amount of kilometers that people are getting from the original factory stocks.
I bought my 2004 1200 bandit in May 2004 and i have since then put on 4500 km's.The tires still look pretty good but i'm just wondering what everyone else is getting out of their factory stocks(michelin macadas i think).

Well that can depend entirely on how you drive. I have about 4,500 on my tire and it definately has a lot of life left. However; if you track race or zip around all the time expect to shave off about 1/2 to 3/4 of the tires life. Just plan on getting a new one when you cannot see much pattern on the tire. Of course it's always better to have newer ones than spent one's but i don't like spending the 150+ dollars on a new tire every month.

My back tires get about 2500 miles before they are shot. By then the front is so torn up it's usually rereplaced at the same time.

Someone needs to invent a sticky 60,000 mile tire for bikes!

C'mon Dale ... if someone wanted to sell you a motorcycle tire that would last for 60'000 miles, would you buy it? I don't think so - sticky and long-life are mutually exclusive. I want to know that my tires are going to stick to the pavement in the next curve - I don't care if they only last about 8'000 KM. By that time, I'll want new tires anyway ... there are so many out there to try ...

So much rubber ... so little time.

I just hate buying new tires every 4 to 8 weeks! Maybe they could just add a few more layers of compound on there for an extra 500 miles and I'd be happy. But then they would sell fewer tires. I need to buy stock in Dunlop!

I have an 04 Bandit with about 9700 miles on the stock tires, but I'm at the point where I'm looking (and saving) up for new ones.

I've got 5600 on my Macadams, with a slight flat spot from circling (squaring) cornfields. If I was able to ride more often like I do in the twisties, they'd be toast.
