While I was at the motorcycle shop on Saturday getting my fan switch fixed, I was trying on helmets to kill time.

I tried on an Arai RX7 - Corsair racing helmet...OH MY! It felt like my head was surrounded by a pillow...it was very comfortable.

Of course it was also $600!!!

Had to put it back on the shelf...but now I want a new helmet!!

[edit] removed evidence of my robbery!! :)

I think during the winter I will have to invest in a newer helmet. My current one seems to weight a pound more than any other helmet I've seen, which kinda sucks when its on your head for hours at a time.
What kind is it?

Arai and Shoei are pretty much top-of-the-line.
BMW has some very expensive models, and lots of innovation (integrated Bluetooth, etc.).
And Schuberth is also popular (my dealer didn't recommend them, though).

I would check some of the reliable motorcycle magazines for product reviews, and also would recommend taking one for a test drive (if your dealer allows that). Each manufacturer uses a slightly different form, so some models may fit you better or more comfortably than others, depending on the shape of your skull. Find one that fits - your head, your budget and your imagination!

Arai, along with Shoei are the best helmets, or at least the ones that proved to be the best up to now.
I've just bought the one you tried on :D but, going at the tracks I really think I needed one of the top ones.
I've got it with the Nicky Hayden graphics :D
Too bad it didn't arrive on time to bring it with me in California. I will post some pics as soon as I get a good one wearing my new helmet.

I love my Arai RX-7 RIV. (McCoy Slide King replica).

I might have to get a second one as a spare...and to use with a dark visor... 8)

Well there the old adage; if you try on an Arai helmet you better be able to afford it because you won't want to wear anything else afterwards.

There's another saying about Arai helmets, but I'll spare you - you being a lady and all...
