 I have a 2006 Roadliner with stock standard exhaust system. I have noticed that sometimes it is backfiring when decelerating or coasting off throttle !

I pretty sure that this is not normal but just wanted to check with other Roadliner users before going back to the Dealer.

Just drop me a quick yes/no.

Thanks

I don't have a roadliner, but that ain't right. Usually the only time that should happen is when somebody has been messing with the pipes or carb mixture somehow. If it's all stock, I'd say it's time for a visit for warranted repairs at the dealer...

Probably an exhaust leak somewhere letting air in the system, that tecnically isn't a backfire when you get some poping on decel
If the bike is completely stock it's probably running pretty much on the lean side too,EPA regs ya know.

I am not sure about your yamaha, but alot of kawasaki's have a clean air system.
basically vacuum hoses go to a solenoid that opens the inlet to the exhaust via reed valves.
the exhaust velocity traveling through the pipes creates a pull when the exhaust valve closes and that pulls open the reed valve which pulls air from the air filter into the exhaust.
the vacuum hoses from before the throttle get more vacuum when the throttle is closed, then pull on the solenoid.
fairly normal if you ask me.:bluethum: Cinnamon_Tic_Tac.jpg take these and call me in the morning.

Came back from the service and a gasket had to be peplaced on the back cylinder, air filter was also cleaned and it is a lot better now. Just minor growling now on decal which apparently is normal for this bike.

Thanks everybody

Case Closed :)
