I've been talking to several shops about taking the baffles out of my volusia stock pipes. I'm getting some real strange responses like "you don't really want to do that, and there's alot involved in that. I don' t know what the big deal is. I know they would probably rather be selling me a different set of pipes, but none will just give me a price on what it would take. My main questions are?
How much should I expect to pay to have the baffles taken out?
Will I have to get a carberator jet kit and is it worth it?
Will I lose any horsepower if I rejet?
How much louder would it be with all the baffles out?

I would really just like to make it a little louder, not obnoxously loud. I was told to bore three 1/2 inch holes in the end each pipe and that would give me a little rumble. Do you think I will lose any back presure and horse power by doing that?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Use a 3" hole saw with a good drill and drill it out your self. Use a 1" wooden dowl as a guide drilled into the pilot bit. Take your time, let the saw do the cutting. When it cuts through the back plate, fold it over with a hammer and screwdriver or something then stick something up the center of the pipe and work it back and forth. There are two tack welds about 12" or so in the pipe you need to work loose. Takes a little while but is not a hard job. You do not need a rejet to debaffle. I ran mine this way for over a year.

I did exactly as the member said in his post. I got 3 inch hole saw and after about an hour had both baffles out. Sounds great and saved the price of aftemarket pipes.I also made some floorboards and lowered my bike two and a half inches.Check my members page for pictures.
