Hey all,

I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on my problem.

I have a 2001 Zuk Bandit with 5600 miles on it. I had a short little trip to the grocery store and forgot to turn off my choke and left it all the way on the whole 4 or 5 mile ride.

Upon getting back to the house, it begun to sputter and hesitate and I realized my error. It soon quit and will not start back up.

I have drained all the fuel in the carbs and tank and replaced it with fresh gas. I changed all the plugs with fresh ones thinking I had fouled the old ones when I left the choke on. I also checked all the fuses, the neutral switch, oil pressure, and the carbs are getting gas.

Do you think I somehow plugged the jets in my carbs? This is the only thing remaining I could think of. I hate the thought of taking off the carbs and cleaning them but may have too. Are there any sites that walk you through this step by step?

Anyways, thanks for any suggestions or help you can provide.

got bike started....

Well, I got it to start and it runs. I didn't prime it and that was why it didn't run after I swapped the gas out. I moved the petcock over to prime for a few minutes and turned it over a couple of times and she fired right up. It was stale gas afterall. I didn't realize unleaded gas could go bad in over a month of disuse. Going to buy some stabil and add it as I don't ride near as much in the winter as summer.

One more problem though, It now runs really bad at idle and below 3000 to 4000 rpm. Kind of like a vacuum leak on a car. I think I might have misplaced some of the emissions tubing from the gas tank and will try that. Would that cause this problem?

running like charm....

It was the small emissions line going to the fuel petcock next the main fuel line that goes to the carbs. It had somehow worked loose when I put the gastank back on. It was sucking air causing the engine to burn really lean at idle and just above. She is running great now.

Sorry about the wasted bandwidth but maybe someone else can learn from my mistakes.
