I'm sure you all know me well by now from the Bike Stolen post...

Well here's the update, the bike was recovered today about 20 miles from my house. I will have the full details on how the idiots got caught on Monday when I get the police report so I'll be sure to have it for you guys.

As for the bike........... :(

You can tell the bike was used and abused by these punks, the ignition is obviously ruined and starts with a screwdriver, the gas cap is busted so they were able to put gas in it and duct tape it down (it's a sticky mess, really nasty). The rear fender part where the licenseplate & blinkers were is totally gone (most remove anyway) The suzuki and gsxr600 decals were scraped off the back (don't ask why, ur guess is as good as mine).

The MAIN problem with the bike is, the speedometer reading is reading way higher than how I'm going. For example stopped at a light turning left, to stop at the next light (100 feet maybe) it said 29mph, I was doing no more than 18mph max (traffic as well). If anyone has any idea what the problem is, please give me your input.

The wire harnass was cut near the ignition but i didn't see any actual wires cut, but maybe that affected how the cpu is reading the mph? I'm not a mechanic obviously....just making a guess.

As always ur help is appreciated, and I will be in contact Monday with the full police report (how the jerkoffs got caught, etc)

Glad to hear you got it back. Well.... most of it anyway. Won't your insurance pay to get it repaired? Or sue the ones that took it? Seems unfair to me for you have to pay to repair YOUR bike after THEY took it.

My insurance is pathetic man they wouldn't even pay to tow it twice. They counted when the cops arrested the kids and impounded it as my tow. If the bike was undriveable I'd have to tow it at my own expense since i'm only allowed one tow.

It's horrible.... They also only cover $58 per hour labor when fixing the bike. My shop is $70 (the dealer). I spoke to the dealer and they said they will handle it, obviously they will do it for $58 sicne they will make so much other money on it anyway.

As for me paying, I will be reimbursed for the tow since it was only one tow. And my deductable is $500 so that is what I'm required to pay. I will look into pressing charges for the $500, plus maybe more for my other stuff that I said was on the bike (pipe, etc).

Make sure you tell the truth about any aftermarket parts you had on it. I.E. pipe, sliders, etc..... It'll come back to bite you if you make a false claim. You'd be in hotter water than the thieves and in no way a better person.

Man that is soooo KOOL. you are the only person in the world I've ever heard got their bike back. To me you are unique. Thank the MC gods profusely. What's better to pay the deductable or to see how badly the insurance company devaluated the bike? Congrats congrats congrats

I'm glad to hear you got your bike back. A friend of mine moved to CA and his bike was stolen two weeks later. It was found a couple weeks after that....in pieces. There wasn't enough left worth salvaging.

I'm not so sure I'd be happy to get a bike back after what it's been through. I'd rather be rid of it.

Hopefully it works out for you.

@itznin: Great that you got the bike back - get it put back in shape, then look for a better insurance company. As you see, sometimes you will need to use the insurance, and its frustrating when you have to fight for every penny. It may be worth it to spend a bit more, but have coverage from a company that is more customer oriented and cooperative. But, it's your call...

Like I said before I'd bet the thieves are someone you know or are known by a friend of yours, 20 miles is very local.

Well the damage is minor in the grand scheme, I mean it's not like they found your frame stripped to the bone considering it was an 04 GSXR.

what insurance company do you have ??? I have state farm and they will cover tows and any repairs no deductable.Im 27 clean record and i pay $41 a month full coverage.I also have a 86 dodge ram on the policy too but even thats $60 liability only(its a POS)

did your shed have a lock on it ? I keep mine in my garage, locked boths with a disc lock. Extra safe. That little extra is fine.If they want it they have to break the metal roll up door or the solid core side door and that will wake me up.

Glad they got caught.Maybe now you will ride BEFORE next spring :D

Yeah I pay $950 a year for full coverage, I have rider insurance which is the most common (but worst/cheapest) in NJ.

As everyone should know NJ is the worst insurance state, avg. car insurance is like $2,000-4,000 per year depending on your driving record. Mine is $3,000 (my age is the main factor in that) I'm 22 with a clean record.

As rowdyred said, I don't relaly want the bike I wish they didn't find it, after it gets fixed I'm going to dump it and get like 7 grand for it. It has 1700 miles and will be in brand new condition. After i get the 7 grand I will put that towards a brand new bike next year. Prob the same bike 04 model I can get a leftover for like 7400 at the dealer after the 05's come out.

The insurance doesn't cover the parts that were on the bike anyway so even if i do lie about what was on the bike it don't matter. They dont' cover extras, it's pathetic. Just basically insurance so you can ride.... if something goes wrong ur screwed...

And for the 100th time, these people don't know me. I will have their names on Monday but it's not like I live in the country. I live in a heavily populated city area and my house is on a corner (shed is on the corner) so if you are in a car and rollin down the hill it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see a gsxr 600 in the shed. When I recovered the bike and brought it home and was working on it, at least 7 cars who rolled up or down the hill were staring and looking 4-5 times while they were ridin in their cars, just eyeballing my bike.

It sucks where I live, I need to get out of here, I'm not saying it's ghetto but it's heavily populated. NJ is the most densely (spelling) populated state in US.

Newark NJ is #1 in car theives and that's a good 10 miles from me. Go figure........... It's also right next to where the kids who had my bike were located.

Insurance is the biggest rip off ever!! You pay all that money each year and then your insurance company can drop you after you make a claim.
