I just started to use turtle wax platinum, works great. I used several other products over the years but IMO the new turtle wax "shines" the most.
I use a car wash soap to clean the bikes first than hose them down, avoid getting water in places you can not reach when drying the bike. Make sure you dry the bike immediatelly after washing it, otherwise you end up with spots everywhere.

About drying: Go invest in a leaf blower! It's the best $75-100 you'll spend for bike washing (plus you can use it around the house). After washing, I just crank up the leaf blower and she's dry in no time! Then I can wax/lube/ride you know the rest.

A leaf blower might do well in some areas but out here we have extremely hard water and the blower leaves water spots. I'm better off just drying the bikes with a soft towel.
