Can putting a new clutch in cause a transmission to explode?
I had a new stock clutch installed with heavy duty springs. Test drove it everything was working great.
2 days later went for a ride 30 miles towards the end the transmission was getting harder and harder to shift gears, I couldn't find neutral. At a light I thought I was in first checked it 3 times. When I took off it seemed as though I was In Third gear, it stalled and bucked and started before I could pull the clutch in. There was a loud mechanical explosion, and immediately could hear loud metal grinding, even when I pulled the clutch in. I think it tore up the teeth in the granny? It does not go into gear and I can't move the shifter. Could the new clutch have caused this by being installed wrong?
Help please.

It may be a totally different problem...why did you fit a new clutch in the first place?....if it was because changing gear was difficult that may be the reason the transmission failed...if it actually has.

Until or if you pull the transmission down you wont know. I would start by draining the oil to check for debris...hopefully its clutch material. On some bikes removing the sump allows visual access to the transmission. What bike and year is this and what is the mileage? Also who installed the clutch?

Good luck hope it was your clutch.
