#1..I've searched the net and seen pics of it in black, but when I go to Suzuki's site, it's only in blue and yellow? Can someone explain this to me?

#2..What should I realisticaly expect to pay for the bike, without tax, tag, and title..just a negotiable price for the bike..it lists for $4999

#3..What kind of bag is available for it? I want to be able to stow my jacket/pants/gloves/boots if necessary. Thanks :)

#1 The black ones are probably from a previous model year. It's common for Suzuki to change colors each year, unless one color is very popular.

#2 Since the GS is often overlooked by the movie-going-biker-boy-wannabe public, you can probably offer somewhere in the low 4's. Just be prepared to leave a phone number and walk away on the first visit.

Its a sharp lookin bike for a 500. I didn;t even know about those. Probably I was all about a gixxer and never looked around.

But just from lookin at that seat style, I would guess that without bags you can only fit your registration and insurance card in there. My dad's g-f has a buell blast and that resembles the same seat and she can barely fit a wallet in there along with her papers.

But nice bike for a first one. Looks sharp without the bike threat of killing yourself wit a slip of the wrist on the throttel

It's not uncommon for only certain colors to be available in certain countries. In Canada, the GS500F comes only in black and blue (the pics you saw are probably of Canadian or European models), while in the US it comes in only blue and yellow.

I'm buying a black one, woohoo!!! :D

Even if you can't get saddlebags to fit the bike, you could always use a tank bag.

It is only blue and yellow
Before I bought my katana I looked at the GS and 3 or 4 places were willing to sell them for around 4300

new to the forum and am planning on a GS500F for my first bike as well..

my followup question.. would you worry about how hard it is to be seen on a blue/white with blue/black gear GS500F as opposed to the yellow/black with matching brighter gear? is this that much of a concern, or am i overly paranoid of idiots not seeing me?

btw -- love the board, and have gained tons of useful information lurking. can't wait to get on the bike, but i'm going to take it reaaaaaaaaal slow. :)

Welcome BillDaCat.

That's a good question. Common sense would make me say that yellow bike would be more visible than a black one however, considering the condition on which people will see you, I'm not sure it would make any difference. By conditions I'm talking about people looking into their rear view mirror, not much color can be perceived, your headlight will be what they see. At a traffic light or a stop signs, they should have the time to see you, color shouldn't matter. On the highway, assume that no one can see you.

I got a GS500 in 2001. They were blue that year. This is a great first bike. The only thing is I have to get off the bike every hour and a half or so to stretch. It isn't designed for long trips. It will be probably a couple of years before I am ready to upgrade. For now, it has plenty of power.
