Hey.. been looking for a good specific site for questions and what not.. and this seems like home..

Im a new rider, my first bike is a 2005 C50 Black. I absolutley love it.. now for my first question.. I have read the posts about drilling but have yet to see if you need to modify the Fuel injectors.. I know the older Volusia's have carb's that adjust themselves but what about the the 2005s that have the fuel injectors? If I drill out my pipes do I need to have my system recalibrated?

Also, where are you buying most of your add-ons..

thanks for all the great info

Yikes !

Brand new bike and you want to drill the pipes ?

Not a great move if you ever need warranty service done, at least wait a yr till the warranty is up. You're just going to make it louder and obnoxious to your neighbors, it's not going to improve performance.

Answer is no it would not require remapping the FI.

But please don't do it, put some money aside in the next year to get some proper freer flowing pipes.

Maybe you could tape on a baseball card on your forks that extend into the spokes, that worked great for me as a kid on my bicycle.lol

there is another thread about all this and some people say it will improve some power and throttle response, some say no.

i havent heard it here, but people on the VTX site say that drilling the baffles requires a re-jet to the carbs. with the FI, it is a more expensive process to get a power commander if the misture does run lean from drilling. that is why i have tn done it yet. im with UB, will probably wait until warrantee work is no longer a worry.

I've seen everything from improving fuel economy and performance to just making it louder. Not sure how it would help the mpg's with the FI, but I'm +1 UB and Pinhy... wait til the warranty's up.

I would be careful in any case - it not only changes the sound (making the bike louder), but also changes the amount of back-pressure from the exhaust on the head. This *can* lead to valve damage if the back-pressure is too low. (I'm no mechanic ... ask 87Gsxrnut for details).
