I'm looking into getting a camera mount on the gas tank. Does anyone know 0f a good quality maker, or are you just buying the homemade ones off ebay? Any ideas? I know about the Mantis are there any others out there worth looking in to?

Here ya go! Best mount around. Works with still or video. Get the riser for a still camera. I'm lovin mine! No more one handed corners trying to get a good shot!

If you do get one, don't trust its sucker fixing points, strap it down aswell.

Had a friend lost a lovely camera that way,not much left once it stopped bouncing down the track!

Have you seen the Mantis camera mount? There's a few on ebay and I know parts411 sells them.

I've got a sportbike mount like Dale's and a buddy(gsxrjeffro) has a Mantis one (I think that's it) and it's built like a tank!

I like mine as it workd for my digital camera and my video camera and it doesn't get in the way of riding and is a cinch to remove.

I got mine off Ebay for less than what they have on their website and I've seen some other pretty nice ones as well.

The Sportbike Cam Mount bolts to the fuel tank using your existing bolt holes. Itr ships with longer bolts to make it easy. Any tripod mount unit will bolt to it. The riser is to elevate digital cameras to get a decent view. Has Velcro on the platform to pad the camera base and secure lens covers on tethers etc. The large knob makes it easy to remove the camera and take it with you.
Drawbacks. 1. Can't get your chin down low on the tank at speed!
2. Mount interfers with use of a tank bag.
3. You need a good quality wind screen to view through without distortion.

Overall, it's well worth the price.
