I am parked outside a bank for no more than 20 minutes. I am at a metered spot and there is a car in front of me and one in back. I come out to find my bike on the ground. Two witnesses tell me the guy gets in his car backs right into bike and just takes off. One witness was about 10 feet from the drivers window when he was backing up and said once he hit it he looked at him and just drove off. Talk about taking the fun out of a day of riding. Nobody got the plates or called it in. Thankfully the frame sliders saved the fairing and all that got scratched up was the bar end and the mirror. I don't know, I picked up my bike just in disbelief that people dont care that much about other peoples stuff.

That sucks! I had a similiar experince only my damages came to 5k on a 6 month old bike! Uninsured driver backed over mine right in front of my townhouse driveway. I heard it and ran out before he could bail. He was high or something. He had walked around my bike to get into his truck in the first place. Like he didn't see it there then?

Glad your bike survived. Ride Safe!

Although its very tempting to squeeze into a spot that is open in between two parrellel parked vehicles I pretty much decline these days, and just pull up on the curb where possible and park it there. I used to do that all the time with my crappy cruizers and on two seperate occasions came out to find they were on the ground. Only way you do it, is if you can keep your eye on it at all times. I had a couple nightmares about coming out and seeing my new bike on the ground. I just bought my frame sliders yesterday and will feel a bit safer when they are installed.

Well, it seems to happen all the time. Poeple are real stupid sometimes. I want a proximity sensor that i can set, so it will blow like hell if anyone gets within 2 feet off it.

Hi Sorry to hear about your mishap but glad it survived. My question is regarding your Frame Sliders??? Are you refering to the mushroom things, or actually frame bars??? I want to get some after I had a very light staionary spill!!! It scared me but I took most of the damage as the bike landed on top of me (Not Intentional) :) Anyway, I didn't want to get the big frame bars as they look a bit too far but wanted to know if the mushrooms do the job and if thats what you are refering too??? many Thanks!

I'd be interested also to know what you're talking about. I've ridden bikes off and on for 30 years and have never heard of a frame slider.

Frame Slider above the SUZUKI and below the clutch lever. And yes they do work. They don't stop all damage but it does limit the damage.

I would think that's asking for a problem. If two bikes were parked in separate parallel spots would it be ok for a car to try to squeeze in between and park?
The key words are "into a spot that is open"
