I know someone posted about changing a helmet visor, but has anyone used the gold one offered by HJC? I just wondered how it performed at night. It's got the mirror finish so it's like tint, and it reduces sunlight entering, but how does it stack up when the sun goes down.

any suggestions appreciated.

At night the mirror isnt as bad as going with a full blacked out tinted whield shield. My MSF instructor told me to get two helmets one tinted and one clear for night time riding. :D A mirror visor will probaly reduce your view by 5% at night time though, not fact just a guesstamation.

seems a bit off. i can't ride with a second helmet on a sportbike. If anyone has mastered that let me know. if it doesn't reduce it by that much then I'll stick to one.

I know those instructors know what they are talking about though, so I'm not knocking the sound advice. its just not practical for a sport rider.

Im sorry you must have misunderstood me, what i was saying is that my MSF instructors advised us to purchase two helmets, 1 for daytime use that could be tinted as dark as we wanted and 1 for night time use thats clear. Not carry both helmets but when the sun began to go down to go home and pick up that other helmet. Altough i have seen ppl carry one of there helmets on there helmet lock. :D

Unless it's an old helmet, most are pretty simple. Some require only a single snap action. If you're not sure, take your helmet to a shop and have someone there show you.

Humm I have the Silver HJC shield for my AC-11 yikes unit. It also came with the clear shield. During the day its just fine and gives you that Darth Vader look with. However at night under dim lit streets or just the bikes headlight I find it to be to dark and loose alot of contrast and detail in the shadows. If I have my clear glasses with me I wear them with my silver shield up at night if I left home during the daytime. If I'm going out at night I'll change to the clear shield.

I have a blue tinted visor. At daytime, it keeps the sun outta my eyes and I can pull the tinted visor off at any time. About 15 seconds to take it off, and i can fit it in under my seat if I have to. This thing works great and I got it for 15 bucks at my bike shop.
