MY C50 has had the CHEC Light come on the LED twice in the last week. I was riding today and it came on, but wouldn't go off.

I made sure that the stand was up like the book said. I was riding at the time, so the engine kill switch was obviously not the issue.

Anyone else had this issue?

I guess I may have to take it to the dealer. It's close to it's 600 mile maintenance now anyway.

Dealer time. Haven't had that one happen yet. When you get it diagnosed, please post back with what the problem was.

Will do. I don't kow what could cause it. I checked the oil and coolant levels as well.

It would figure too. I had plans of taking a whole day out to ride in the 106 degree temps up to the mountains nearby to cool off.

Sad that the bike has 500 miles on it and already has an issue.

The owners manual should list the possible reasons it would be on.

The only thing the owners manual says is to make sure that the kickstand is up and that the engine cutoff switch is in the correct position. It talks about it from a starting the engine perspective.

I am riding the bike at 50 mph or above when this happens.

the M50 owners manual says the same but also says....make sure the transmission is in neutral or the side stand up...it further says....if still indicates "CHEC"...inspect the ignition fuse and connection of lead wirte couplers....

It comes on when I am riding. If the sidestand was down...no engine. If the bike was in neutral...hard to ride.

The fuses, oil level, coolant level, and wire couplers were fine.

I disconnected the battery to reset the computer, but when I took it back out the light came back on.

I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow for the 600 mile service. I am going to have it looked at then.

It turned out it was only the connection to the odometer that is underneath the tank.

When the service guy took it off, the wire fell off and he knew right away thats what it was.

Good news... well, it'd been better had they connected everything proper to start with, but [email protected] good news that it wasn't anything complicated :)

I've heard that problem is somewhat common, but at least easily fixed.
