Are the forks clearcoated? If the coating is wearing off all the polish in the world won't help. In that case you need to remove the clear coat. You can use clear coat remover by Eagle, then polish with Mothers aluminum polish. You can tell if they are clearcoated if there are areas where it is chipped or peeling or yellowed. Also if you use Mothers polish on them and the cloth you are using does not turn dark black they are coated. Bare aluminum will turn the polish and the cloth black pretty much instantly. It will require alot of effort to remove the clear coat (the clear coat remover is strong and nasty, wear gloves). Then you may need to use a very, very fine steel wool to smooth the surface of the aluminum. Too coarse steel wool will put scratches in that will be hard to remove. You can use polish with the steel wool. Then follow up with a coarse cloth and polish. Then buff with a softer cloth. It is alot of work but worth it. You will need to polish often to maintain the mirror finish you will aquire. If you don't keep up with it the aluminum will corrode quickly because the clear coat is no longer protecting it. I have done this with many wheels and the result is great.
