That's funny, I had that site bookmarked on my pc because I was curious and interested too.

I'd like to learn more about it also. I like the idea of the throat mic better than having a big device attached to your helmet like the chatterbox...

isn't that the same type mic that SWAT teams and the military special force team like the Navy Seals use??? Looks cool but who would you be talking to while riding???

I like talking to myself Nexus!

There's lot's of people around my places. It's great for rides. And like Gina says I'm not too found of having a huge box on my helmet. Regular FRS units (with VOX) with these mics seem to make a very good communication system.

Sorry Louis!
You're forgiven, of course :)

But seriously...what FRS unit would you think about getting? Would you mount that to the handlebars, or how do you think that would work?
I'd get some Motorola units with VOX. I got a friend who'd be willing to split the units (they often come in a two-pack). I'd just put the unit in a pocket of my jacket.

I did the same as you are thinking, but have yet to order my headsets. I can't find the link to the headset I wanted at the moment. When I find it I'll post it. It's a lot more versatile that way.

Better than a big box on your head! Well that depends? Sorry, couldn't resist!

Focus on riding, not talking.

That's true most of the time. On occasion though I've let rides of 40 plus riders, broken into smaller groups for safety. Some radio communication between the groups makes it much easier to keep moving forward at a decent pace on long rides. It's really helpful to have communication between the lead and sweep rider.

I still have some of the first edition motorla talk-a-bouts, and they work pretty good for Voice Activated Transmisions (VOX). But like Lou, I don't need a mic to talk to myself, or sing. Untill some of my buddies around here get bikes.
