Hey,
I know Im not talkin about a suzuki but since my RM is doin ok, I thought I can get some help with my other bike.
I just bought an 81 KX420 and the compression is so damn high that its too hard to kick it enough to get it started again.
It was running fine the other day when I bought it but I cant get it goin again. I cleaned the carb out, checked the reeds and anything else I could. I then tried spraying started fluid in there, I tried heating it up with a hair dryer, and I tied up the rigth side peg so I can get a longer throw on the kick lever (which does make a bit of a difference).
You can hear the piston has its momentum when I get some really good kicks out of it but it doesnt start.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

is the petcock turned on, that is the most common problem when people get a new bike, they just tend to forget. Other than that, are you getting spark. What have you checked for?

Ahhh....sorry...I just never heard that term before.
Yes, the fuel switch is turned on and I have made sure that fuel runs through there properly.
As well I have kicked the bike over with no plug in the head to see if it would spray out fuel and it does properly so I know the fuel is getting to the cylinder.
I just called the original owner and he said he dropped a capful of 2 stroke oil in the head before cold starting it and that would help ease the compression. When I get home tonight Ill try that, but what do you think of that? Any problems with doin that?
THanks!

To kick over a large bike cycle the piston to TOP DEAD CENTER and then give it a real good kick. this will give the motor a chance to turn over easier. TOP DEAD CENTER is when the piston is at the maximum height before it heads back down the cylinder.
