Hey there...

I'm the lucky owner of this bike..

I've heard rumours that it's derestricted to 112 MPH (180 km/t), is that so??

My bike is fitted with at Red Rev Derestrictor Kit?
What does it do, maybe make it possible to enter the reed line on the rev'o-meter??

Does I need the Derestrictor kit (M Max) to get maximum power from my bike? What is this M Max system?

Pleas help a lost suzuki driver! :)

On most Japanese bikes like the RGV or GSXR 400's you have to remove the speed restrictors built into the speedometer or the gearbox. I will find out through my contact in Japan what needs to be done to get full power from it. I do know the M-Max box will remove the speed restriction but will not make the motor produce full power. Give me a few days to discuss what needs to be done with the bike through my contact in Japan.

Where would you get one of these GSXR400's? My wife is interested in a small cc bike but doesn't like the looks of the ones available in the US. Where was this bike offered? After a little research I see they were offered all the way up until 1999. I'd love to get ahold of one of these or an RF400.

Too bad. Motorcycle makers are not willing to put very many smaller bikes in US showrooms, they'd rather sell you a bigger $$$$ bike, you rich Yankee!!! :? Smaller bikes in the US now are all "beginner bikes", bikes you want to get rid of after a while 'cuz they really aren't great rides for a rider who has developed a basic level of competence. There are darn few exceptions to this, like the Vulcan 500 cruiser. 8)

I asked him and he was not 100% positive so he is looking into. I will contact him again today and see what he found out. Sorry it is taking so long.
It's okay Dave, i'm greatfull that you'll help me! ;)

->This is the Red Rev kit witch already is on my Suzuki GSX-R 400 RR SP '95<-

->This is the M-Max box a buddy has on his Suzuki RF400 '95<-

Does any of you know the difference?

And the 1 mil. dollar question: :D

The model that I have got, is the one with 53hp, is it possible to pull 59hp out of it like the old one?
Or is the difference just because one of them is on the rear wheel (53hp), while the other one is on the Crank? (59hp)

Thanks alot!

Regaards Soren!

Both units you linked to are only removing the Speed Restriction (112mph) and not the Bhp restriction that is imposed on Domestic Japanese models.

If I can get 63.6 HP from my 2 stroke RGV250 (stock derestricted is 55 HP) and some others get over 70 HP I am confident that with some minor mods your 4 stroke 400 can get up into the 70's with out much problems. I know the guys racing in the formula 400 class in the UK are in the high 80's and low 90's in HP.

As soon as Johji finds out I will pass it on to you.

How much more do you know about the HP restriction?
Is it possible to remove? I hope it's not any vital engine parts that has to be replaced..

But enough for now!

And again, thanks Dave! ;)

Sorry for the long wait...My PC Crashed!

Look into the exhaust header and remove the welded in collars or better yet purchase a Yosh system for it.

You will need a set of UK spec Carbs from what Johji said the Jap spec carbs are smaller.

the only thing that is in question is whether you will need to change the CDI to a UK spec one......We couldn't get any answers on that. It seems the CDI will not let the bike rev past 11,500 rpm's.

Hope this helps.
