Why are some of my intakes/valves filthy, and some spotless, especially off the same carb. On my 98 Katana 750, the right valve on #4 is caked with buildup, but the left is clean. I just adjusted my valves (which were not off by much) and my carbs (all the same)...would that make a difference? Motor runs great.

Also, what's the best way to clean them? Can I simply use Gumout, or should I pull the carbs and scrub they hell out of the intakes (if so, with what)? Or should I care?

basically it comes down to the desighn of the intake where the carbon buildup will be the heaviest, but it could be one of 2 other things. a carb not flowing right or a valve seal thats not quite sealing up.. do U use any oil?
U could try to use a pour in carb cleaner, but they usually doen work to well.... so yur really left to skrubb.
I hope this helps..
