Ordered the DJ Mod kit for my C50 yesterday. Can't wait to get it. From everything I've read it makes the C50 a whole new riding experience.

Axel and rear end from a C90 which reduces your RPM's by 14% . And about $450 to $500 and you do it your self.

I rode one this summer, not bad but a little slow coming out of 1st gear. Save your money, ride what you have and in the furture just buy a bigger bike with more torque and lower rpm's. The C50 is a good meduim bike to learn on and grow with for some good years. But if you look around there is alot of people that trade up.

That may be why they trade up. Im 55 years old and have been riding motorcycles since 1968. Ive owned a bunch of them to say the least including Harleys.I found out that the bigger engine isnt nessessary especialy with now days gas prices plus the out lay of cash for the bigger bike. Im am on the list for this mod and helped a friend of mine put one in his bike last weekend. I have rode his bike with the DJ (HYPER DRIVE) and it really does make it a nicer ride for sure. To me This c50 with the DJ ride is all the bike ill ever need I know cause ive owned most of them at one time or another. At my age I just like to lope along and take it easy so it will be a great mod for me.

I ordered mine last Saturday. As of Sunday, I was number 59, that can change frequently. I found the $450 was a helluva lot cheaper than a new, bigger bike. I was content on it last year, but the modified C90 rearend should be just the ticket.

I was the first M50 owner to install the DJ drive and I love it. I think It does make the bike seem bigger than it is with the lower revs and wider spaced gears. I test rode an M109 last year and if I had the money I would trade up, but my bike is paid for and I like not having to make that payment. This will do me well for a couple more years. I will be looking at the C109 then.

This mod is to make my C50 much more enjoyable to ride for longer distances at highway speeds. I don't like the vibrations I get at 65+ speeds on the open road. By turning less RPM's and getting better fuel mileage it's a win win situation IMO. Dan himself and various riders put thousands of miles of testing on this mod before he decided to market it. For me the C50 is a ideal size bike for all around riding, in town and on the open road. To me the $450 price on the kit is very reasonable compared to all the other mods we do to our bikes. It's not Dan's fault his supplier threatened stop supplying him if he didn't get more money for the gears and shafts. When there is a demand for product they (suppliers) always find a way to bleed us a little more, if you know what I mean. When I finish adding this mod hopefully I'll want to keep riding my C50 that much longer. :bluethum:

I remember reading that someone was following one of the DJ Mod test bikes on an unmodified and he said he had trouble keeping up with the modified riders bike. He was into 4th while the lead bike was in 3rd.
I've found it to be a beneficial change. (did it myself in 3 hours) It would be like swapping out the sprockets on a chain drive to enhance it.
As far as feathering the throttle, it is not an extreme change and not like leaving in 2nd with stock.
Also this allows me to have a bike I would trade up to but my wife wouldn't let me.

Cheers to all, Boston

To put the acceleration into perspective...I used to get left behind by my bro. on his VTX1300 when accelerating from a stop, but now amazingly he has to shift first into second before I do and he slowly starts to pull then in third he says good-bye but not as bad as before where I would beat him off the line but as soon as I shifted into second he would come screaming past me and I couldn't slow his pull. Oh and by the way this last drag race I was riding two-up and he was solo...

He told me after I modded mine that he has a hard time catching me now if I get a head start on him riding solo, and eventually he does but I'm usually all out of steam at over 90mph.

Somehow stretching the gears out and having a high redline doesn't seem to slow the bike down much...JMHO...

Finally received my invoice from Dan,so I should be getting my Mod kit by middle of May. Dan said the oil seals are on back order from suzuki until middle of may, then he will ship everything to me total cost of $455 for factory finish. I'm not positive but I would think this mod would void any factory warranty, drastic change to motorcycle. :D:D:D

I was #57 on his list when I started this post in January. By the time I get the mod it'll be about 15 weeks. His supplier decided to stop shipping to him and raise the price, so I'm glad I ordered when I did. Thankfully it was during cold weather so I couldn't ride much.

Pic's of M50 with DJ Drive Mod?

I am ready and excited to buy one of these Drive Kits, and am curious what the unpainted rear end looks like on the black M50.

Does any one have any M50 pic's to post, or if there have been pic's posted already, can someone give me a link?

Thanks,
Oldie
