And I'm talking about people your not having sex with too. I don't think I can do, unless it was a mechanic fixing my bike. I've never let anyone drive my Civic, only let one person drive my 200sx, cause she was hot and no one else has ever driven anything I own. Sorry I just don't trust anyone that much.

I've always told people when they asked to drive my stuff "Unless we're having sex the answer is No."

So do you trust others with your stuff if they ask to drive/ride it????

[Note to self: Don't ask Nexus if you can borrow his car when visiting Florida]

I've had some friends sit on my bike, but no one else has ridden it since I bought it.

My car, on the other hand, has been driven by lots of people. It's insured, paid off, and got almost 130,000 kms on it. No reason not to let any of my friends drive it when they need it.

I guess I'm not that materialistic. If my car is trashed, then I go buy a new one. No big deal.

I don't let people ride my bike because it's not the same. It's very easy to damage yourself and the bike if you are not familiar with it - it's heavy and has a very sensitive throttle. If my bike were to be trashed, I would also go buy a new one, (maybe not the K5 version of my bike - yuck!) but I would feel bad if one of my friends was hurt while riding it.

The only people who have ever asked to ride my bike had no right to even ask, so I said absolutely not. It's too easy for something to happen, it's not at all like driving a car! There are people I would allow to ride my bike - but one is just too short to ride my bike. And my brothers, who are seasoned riders, I would. But they both live far away, so they have never been able to.

My car, on the other hand is 12 years old, has an automatic transmission. I've let people drive it without any reservations.

I don't think the condition about only riding my bike if sleeping together would work so well for me. I think many guys would just think it was a package deal, and try to "jump on it" (if you'll pardon the pun...) :D

Depends on the person. I've let several people drive my cars at various points in time, but they were all friends I knew and trusted. There are people I definitely WOULDN'T let drive my anything under any circumstances. I suppose my main test is to see how comfortable I am when they're driving their cars, or how well they can handle their cars. With bikes it's a bit more tricky. Seeing as most times no one NEEDS to ride your bike, I suppose my criteria would be
  • 1) How well does this person ride his/her bike?
    2) How closely does his/her bike match mine in power, weight, stability etc?
    3) WHERE are they going to ride it?
I may let a trusted friend who I've ridden with and owns a Gixxer ride my GSX600F around a parking lot, but I'm sure as hell not letting an acquaintance who I've never seen ride and owns a moped ride my bike on the freeway.

I've let any of my friends who asked ride mine around a parking lot or on their neighborhood streets. I know that none of my friends with no riding experience would ask, although I've let a couple of people ride it who haven't been on a bike in six years, so I was a little nervous. But I also know that they have the cash to buy me a new fairing if they drop the bike :)

On the other hand, when I was visiting friends in Tennessee, one of them actually handed me the key to his new $22K Harley and asked if I wanted to take it for a spin. Surprised the hell out of me.

I work with a girl that has an 04 GSXR600 and sure I'd love to try out an I4 to see what's it's all aboot but I wouldn't want to put her in an akward position to say yes or no. If she offered I'd take her up for a minor parking lot spin but nothing more then that. I know she knows I can ride but still that's a huge investment to let someone else use.

NO.

Whenever I actually have to take my bike to the dealership to be worked on (only if I don't have right tools or time) then I always try to drop the bike off with next to no gas in it so I know they can't go riding around without filling the tank some. My car I don't really care about but no-one rides my busa!

Actually, yes, in the last year I have started letting others ride mine, and started riding other people's, if I know them and trust their judgement. For example, i have a friend who has only been riding a year I will let take a spin on mine, but another friend who has been riding 20 years, but can;t seem to keep the front wheel on the ground, I would not let ride it.
I let a friend ride my bike while I was up in Paducah, because he has the exact same bike but it was in the shop at rally time. I also let a girl in my riding club ride it, because she is looking to upgrade from her 250 Rebel to an Intruder, and a test drive is a lot better than just sitting on one in the showroom.
And every now and then I'll trade bikes with someone I'm riding with on a trip, just until the next gas stop, to give us both a change of pace. I have gotten to try out a 1500LC, Honda ACE, Honda Goldwing, and Kawasaki Voyager that way, each time at the suggestion of the other bike owner. We both get to show off our toys, and we both get to enjoy a different type of riding for a little while.
Gotta be someone I know rides well to ride my bike, though, and someone I know has insurance before I ride theirs. But heck, its just a bike. I guess I get less and less attached to each one...I have owned 10 of them.

Cars? No problem. Bikes? I have to know you and ride with you, and you need to be a decent rider I don't ride with people who only want to ride at top speed or do burnouts / wheelies. Cars don't fall over as easily as bikes. 8)

I don't mind any one driving my car
There's a few i would let ride my bandit 12 as I only use it as a commuter bike
But I even hate the mechanic fixing my GSX1400 riding it iv'e spent too much time and effort on it not to mention money

I have a hard time with this question. My Katana needs a lot of work so no one (not even me right now) rides that one. My SV650 is my new toy but oddly enough I have already let my boss take it around the block. He's a seasoned rider whos been riding for 2 years. He's got a Maruader and wants a GSXR and has never ridden a sport bike. He wanted to see what the big difference was, so he got to take a quick spin. No one else has ridden any of my bikes, and i dont think anyone else will.

I'll only let people ride it if I know they have experience riding that kind of bike. I let a few of my fellow sport bike friends ride my gixxer, but now I have a Marauder. My friends still have sport bikes, and the ride is totally different, as I've discovered. (I almost dumped the bike the first day I got it because the clutch releases so late). I'd be hesitant to let someone ride it who has only ridden crotch rockets.
