Hi guys, I recently acquired a used 1985 DR125 with a fresh engine. The bike works excellent but is really gutless. Mechanically it is perfectso I decided to check what was on it for new sprockets. There is a 15 tooth on the front and a 50 tooth on the rear. I can get a 53 for the rear and as small as a 12 for up front. Would that make a big difference or would I have to get something even larger for the back? If so, I don't know what sprockets from what models will fit and what wont. All the afteermarket suppliers have listed up here is a maximum 53 tooth rear. Any advice you can pass along would be certainly appreciated guys.
Thanks!

53 teeth on the rear and 12 on the front should give you plenty of grunt. Remember, it is only a 125 4 stroke, so it will only deliver so much power. If you put too big a sprocket on the rear, it starts to foul the chain guide. I'm running 12/52 on my DR200 and its got plenty of low down torque, but no top speed. The 125 engine is a sleeved down 200 engine.
