Hi, new here. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or experience with the little DR200. I've been searching the web and so far can find NO aftermarket exhaust, Air filters, or really much info at all about mods for this bike. I have seen pipes for the DR250. Any thoughts about adapting a DR250 pipe (like the FMF power core), or maybe one of the universal pipes available from Supertrap, etc? Have any of you ever tried to adapt a less restrictive Air filter? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, JB

Just joined the forum tonight & saw your post.

I have the DR200SE & it is virtually impossible to get ANYTHING aftermarket for them. I just don't think Suzuki sells enough of them. It is a bike that most people just ride & not expect super power from it. One is better off going to the DRZ400 or DRZ650 (like I had & regretted trading!) to get the wallop you would like. The 650 has a great seat height & is gutsy on the road. Get the gel seat & a rack, and you're in business. But the 200 is the friendliest bike I ever owned with the exception of the 1973 Suzuki Duster 125 2 stroke.

There are some mods you can make to the 200 to give noticable power gains.
1. Drill holes in the airbox
2. re jet the carb. There are plenty of old posts on this forum dealing with what jets to put in. Jetting depends on where you live.
3. Change sprocket ratios. Remember the dr is a 'dual purpose bike', meaning road and dirt. If you want to ride it on dirt only, then put a larger sprocket on the rear. This sacrifices some top speed, but gives more torque low down.
4. Fit an aftermarket muffler. The factory muffler is very restrictive. Although there are no aftermarket bolt on systems for the dr200, it is still relatively easy to change the muffler. You need to know someone who knows how to weld, or be willing to pay someone to do it. It involves making up brackets and adapting the header pipe to the muffler inlet. Pretty much any aftermarket muffler will be better than the original. Try and find one that doesn't interfere with the plastics. The factory muffler can be made less restrictive by drilling out the rear baffle plate. Just poke a large drill down the exhaust pipe and drill as far as you can.
