also i have a hard time starting it, i drove it when i bought it the other day it seemed like it had alot of power and it started no problem but i got it home and now i can't even get a kick out of it. it back fires after a few kicks but thats it... could it be the timming...?
i put gas in the clycender and still nothing..

shes in real good shape for a few hundered bucks and looks awsome...
hopefully i can get it goin and head out on the trails again with da boys... like the old times....

i have gas and spark... i know that thats all you really need but its not working
could it have something to do with the commpression i know that my old 78 XL 125 had trouble starting and it was because of a broken ring....

also would like to know if there is a manual or spec's on the internet or anything about the bike...

thanks for the replys!!!

NOPE i don't have a batery and i just blew out my first light yesterday...

i can get a pic if u want one i would like one to can't seem to find info on this bike anywhere.

The plug is black!

the bike feels like a big Slug when drivin it... but when i it it reves good when it is parked but a slug when driving it compaired to my XL125..

can ya tell me what to do to the carb?
i know nothing about carbs and jetting..

I also came across this post
from someone.....

I pulled the stock main jet out of my '96 dr650se & stuck it in my wifes '96 dr200se. I think it was a 140. I couldn't believe the difference! I also modified a spark arrestor off my kx250 to fit it, scrapped the muffler & uncapped the mixture screw and played w/it 'till the idle smoothed out. Totally new bike.

Could u give me the name of a jet # or what ever or tell me what i could do to improve the slugsh....... itts got 120PSI of compression
i don't know what else i could tell ya bout it a neew head gasket...

i'd like to fix this..
I drove one of them new KXL 125's the other day and it would EAT this thing the way it is now.... i was ashamed to say i owned a DR 200 compaired to that thing... lol haha

can ya help me out>??
thanks for any help!!!!

DR200

Hey, sounds and looks like you've got a great little bike! I have a 98 DR200, I don't know if you have the same jetting but stock my bike came with a #125 main jet. I went up to a 140 and drilled 4 holes in the top of the airbox. This really opened up the engine and let it breathe...I also put on a universal FMF pipe. To me it sounds like you need to take your carb off and have it totally cleaned, clean out your airbox and get a new air filter as well. Once you've eliminated the possibilities of a gummed up/restricted carb/airbox then you can play with jetting afterwards. :D

Yup she looks good. I think anyways...

Thats an other thing, I do not have a air filter in it.....
so i put a piece of foam in the air box......

How can i tell what kind of jet is in my carb..

also what size carb is on urs like 30mm 31mm 32mm etc....?????

When you put the #140 jet in it did you really notice a difference..?
more take off, power climbing hills etc.?????

also what type air filter is better..?
K&N..?

thanks for the help....

Hi again, i was just reading this thing about jets and it said there is a main jet and a Slow jet......

if i put a 140 main jet into my carb would i have to change the slow jet..?

if so what # would be better...... or do i leave it alone...??????

and one else put a 140 main jet in their DR200................ with any problems???

can ya tell me what to do... and also

What would be the best cleaning solution to clean my carb with...???

I wass goin to use a product called KABOOM... for cleaning floors and bathtubs, tiles etc..

or CLR CALCIUM LIME AND RUST

or is there something better to use.. I blew it out with compressed air and took out all the jet and blew threw them too... and even the little push rod on the side of the carb....

All I changed was the main 125 up to a 140, I haven't even played with the mixture screw yet, I might when I feel daring enough. I use the stock air filter, I am getting a moose filter really soon. If you can get ahold of a manual this would help you out bigtime. As for my carb, it's a Mikuni BST31. I followed the manual when changing mine, you've already taken out your jets and put them back, if you find a good manual it will show you what the different jets are and then you can go from there. Just take your jet down to the local dealer and get a 140....however I don't know if you'll have the same carb seeing as your bike is a dirt only, not a dualsport. Anyways I noticed quite a gain in torque down low and oomph in the midrange. This might be a combination however of the new pipe, carb/airbox mods. My bike comes really restriced seeing as it's street legal, I've heard numerous times that the dirt only model (yours) has more power stock because of this. In my opinion I'd just take your carb off, order an airfilter, take the carb to the local shop and have them soak the carb in professional "carb cleaner". Once the carbs cleaned and you have the proper air filter assembly you'll know more about how it's running because I think it'll make a HUGE difference. Then consider jets after that...IMHO :)

I have a DR200 with the same problem. Mine has a battery. Email me and I'll try and send you some pics. [email protected] .

As for the compression. If you're unsure, try pouring a little bit of oil (engine oil, or tranny oil) into the chamber (where the plug screws in). If it starts easier, then it may be a ring. but if you have 120psi, that shouldn't be the problem. Also, on mine, the air filter seemed to be perfectly clean, but it wouldn't run with the filter in. This might have been because there is something wrong in the carb, but you should get it working without the filter first.

A good way to get parts clean is to put them in the dishwasher and run a cycle with normal dishwasher powder. They say that you should not put aluminium in a dishwasher because the powder will corrode the ali, but it worked fine for me.
