modern street bike indeed.
I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head when you said - "I can't think of any modern street bike that still has a kick-starter..." .
Being a dual sport bike that does a wonderful job of it. It is fun to ride on the street for short jaunts but it's a blast to take out for tours on fire roads, logging roads and back country dirt trails that are not so domesticated. It likes to play in the dirt too so it needs the equipment required of that environment.
I do keep it on a battery tender when at home and have it wired for the quick connect. There just isn't a 110v outlet available on all the back country locations permitted for riding. I'm looking into some loops in Colorado and push starting can sure be a sweat it out, exhausting and sometimes nearly impossible experience in the wrong setup where flat, pot hole laden, wet puddles, etc. are concerned. Been there done that.
Any ideas other than sticking to the domesticated fair or riding two specialty bikes ?
