After much research and a lot of help from the great folks on this forum I put down a deposit on my Volusia today and should pick it up next Tuesday. I came real close to getting a Honda Shadow 1100 or a Honda VTX 1300. I finally I came back to my senses and was lucky enough to find a great "used" 2003 Volusia. I say used because the guy that I am getting it from got it in a deal on a Jet Ski( I still don't understand the deal he got). Anyway, he already had a Goldwing and didn't have time to ride both. The bike only has 300 miles on it and I saved $2000 because it was "used" and because of the add-ons such as a windshield, saddlebags, Vance and Hines pipes(sounds Grrrrreat!) etc. When I get it I'll post a picture. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement I have gotten here on the Forum.

Congrats on the great deal, somebody else ate the initial depreciation and you get a practically new bike. 8)

I picked up my new Volusia on Friday. I've been doing the empty mall and parking lot scene ever since. Both my son's who have bikes have been coaching me and I finally went out in traffic this afternoon. I must admit to nervousness but it was great. I know I've still got a lot of practicing to do but for a 57 year old who had never riden before taking the motorcycle riders safety course at a local college a month ago, I guess I'm not doing too badly. The Volusia is awesome!!!!!!!!!! :D :D
