Friends,

My SV650 its due for its first scheduled service (600 miles). I had a DUC before and the bike I got after the first service was a completly different from the one that "walked" into the service shop. Because they adjust the throttle sensors, check the mapping and check valve adjustment the performance was completely different.

Should I expect the same with the Susuki?

BTW, the last 50 miles I feel like the engine/transmission is not well attached to the frame ... when I roll on or let go the first thing I feel is a "knock" and a second latter the engine revs or unrevs. Is it possible that the pieces finish "settling" during the break in period and nuts and bolts need to be adjusted?

They usually do tighten bolts and cables and such. You shouldn't necessarily find a performance increase though unless your valves or map was way outta whack.

Were those 50 miles before or after the service? You said "I feel." Did you mean "I felt" and the problem is solved now? I'm a little confused.

Oh yeah, your bike may feel smoother afterwards. The vibrations and stuff from a brand new bike NEED to be corrected to everyday use.

Make sure you tell the mech about the "knock", etc. Could be a factory/assembly problem.

Have you been (mostly) keeping it within the rev limits specced in the owner's manual? It definitely makes a difference, "bulletproof" rep or not...

I feel ... up to today. The bike will go in for service on Monday. I hope that once they tighten botls it will go away.

Cheers,

My clutch felt all cozy, as did the throttle. The bike may sound a tad different if any valves have to be adjusted to any extent. Some rattles may be absent after tightening bolts, etc.

Performance enhancement? Probably not enough to feel, but the placebo effect of all the other subtle changes will make it even more of a hoot to ride than it was before you dropped it off.
