Rebuilding a 2003 Suzuki Katana 600 and I need to rebuild the forks (new bushings, seals, dust cover, retaining clip) Looking all over the internet for a rebuild kit but since the forks are 41MM will any kit with 41mm stamp work? Very Ignorant here and dunno where else to look. Got quoted for $250+ for shop price to do it, am i able to do it for cheaper? If thats not an option what about swapping forks? Has anyone done it? What forks? Thanks for your help.
There is no reason to switch forks out. Most of the labor is getting the fork tubes off of the bike. The parts are pretty cheep if you do it yourself. Do you have a lift and a shop manual? If so, go at it but do the research before you start. Use a good quality fork oil and clean out the inside of the tubes while you have them apart. Here is an idea of what you are in for: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=40821.0
