Info on Delrin.
It's used in construction a lot too as a friction free bearing surface (like teflon). It is extremely similar to Nylon and wears down similarly, but seems to be a bit stiffer. It's a good solid plastic that just wants to slide against any surface it touches. The road will of course wear it down, but unless it's very cold, you shouldn't have to worry about it cracking on impact etc.
