Is there a way to adjust the position of the gear changer? I have boots that I cannot get my two under the gear shifter to shift to a higher gear. Is there a way to change the position so i can get my big foot under it?

Thanks, Moose

You might be able to get a heel-toe shifter if that's the kind of thing you're into. If you just want to adjust it, there should be a bolt or screw you can remove, pull the shifter off and put it on at a more inclined angle.

It is a 2001 Volusia. (Sorry) I have ordered a heel-toe shifter but it is back ordered

I was hoping I could make an adjustment in the inteim.

I will take a look for the bolt tonight.

The shifter arm simply slips over a splined shaft and is held on by a bolt that squeezes it tight to the shaft. Loosen the bolt and slide the shifter arm off the end, rotate it up a bit, then put in back on and tighten the bolt.
On many bikes the footpeg or bracket will prevent the shifter arm from coming all the way off the slined shaft. If this is the case on the Vol, remove the bolt completely, spread the clamp with a screwdriver, then bump it up a few splines. Remove the screwdriver, and put the bolt back.
