got a new bike ST250E Special Edition (retro looking)

Hello from Tokyo
Just joined the forum today.
Changed my bike from Yamaha XV750 to Suzuki ST250E Special Edition,
a retro-looking bike:

My bike: shown in the attached image. Background painted black to hide crap in the garage.

Original bike: http://www1.suzuki.co.jp/motor/st250/byb.html

Seems to be interesting forum.

Cheers ....

Greetings and welcome, Tokyo1939. Cool, retro-looking bike. I did a little searching and came up with something a little different looking...http://www1.suzuki.co.jp/motor/st250/index.html ... is yours a special edition of some sort?

Gracias! The url I originally went to indicated that the pic I found (at the url I posted) was a 250XK4, but when I clicked all I could read was 250E. Rest was in Japanese, which is way beyond my limited abilities. Thanks for clearing that up. Now you just need to get some pics posted of your bike

Hello Tiger,

Firstly, my apologies for giving you a wrong information as to the models. You were right. ST250XK4 is ST250E, ST250K4 is ST250 (standard). Mine was modefied from ST250XK4. Did I make you clear like a muddy water again?

I was confused, too. When I ordered the bike from the dealer, I ordered its parts catalog for maintenace. I received the catalog titled 'ST250XK4' which I thought it was for my bike. Actually it was not. I called Suzuki HQ to find out the fact: All unique retro-looking parts were made by the company named 'Kijima' and assembled by the dealer. So there was another parts catalog published by Kijima. I was wondering why my bike's picture is not on any catalogs nor on the web site.

It was confusing but good thing is all parts are guranteed by Suzuki.

Certainly no need for apologies, Tokyo, and I understand the confusion from the manuals. My bikes a C50, but the manual that came with it still says VL800. :)

Tiger,
I see ... that makes me feel better.
By the way when you have time could you explain about your signature?
As you see English is not my mother tongue .... but am very interested in the foreign languages and different cultures.

Trust me, Tokyo, you do the English language far more justice than many people who were born and raised in the United States:)

As for the signature - The first bit is lyrics from the song 'Red Barchetta', by Rush. Neil Peart wrote those lyrics, inspired by the short story "A Nice Morning Drive" by Richard Foster. Sort of an Orwellian/Solzhenitsyn feel to it. Both Fiat and Ferrari have made Barchetta's, although the original story was about an MG.

The Cogito Eggo Sum is a play on the Latin phrase "Cogito Ergo Sum" which translates to "I think, therefore I am", quoted from the French philosopher Rene Descartes (so really it should have been "je pense, donc je suis", n'est ce pas?) Technically it should translate as "..therefore I exist" since that was what Descartes was trying to rationalize.

Eggo is a brand of frozen waffle in the United States, so it's supposed to be funny.:)

Thank you for your time, Tiger.
I understood, 10-4 good boys (is that the way you people say?)

I have an American friend in the boondocks in N.Y., whose nick name is 'Tiger'.
However, his wife said "He is a tiger all right but just a paper tiger".

I am enjoying this forum since I joined yesterday. I wished I had found this site a lot earlier.
