just got my bike back- i had an accident abt a month ago. got cleared by the doc and can ride! there wasn't too much damage. it came out to be around 800 clams. left a few of the scuffed parts on cause it was really minor scratches.

quick question- how many of you actually wear motorcycle boots when riding? i just got a pair of Alpinestar street boots and they feel awkward..

boots

Wear mine everytime I drive, can't think of the name right at the moment but I bought them at a gov't suppy company, supposed to be for the forces only.
Apparently they're the same kind the motorcops wear, most comfortable pair of foorwear I've ever owned. 8" high, laces up the front with zippers down the inside, once you've got them laced to size, zippers only....Mike

When I see people riding with sandals or tennis shoes, I get really nervous.

I always wear boots - to protect my ankles in case it's my turn to crash, and to protect my feet from the hot pipes that run about 6 inches behind the foot pegs. As I am still getting used to my new bike, I regularly have melted rubber from my boots on the exhaust pipe. If I was wearing "street" shoes, I would have already burned my foot or ankle several times.

Wear your gear - ride safe!

I wear Teknic riding boots. I was wearing a pair of them when I crashed in June, and my ankles did not have any problems. It was a serious wreck because I managed to break my right femur and left wrist, but my feet and ankles were fine.

After riding with motorcycle boots for a week or two, I actually thought it was more comfortable. I also missed less shifts than when I used regular hiking boots.

Not saying I recommend this for everyone, but I have been riding for over 30 years and have never owned a pair of riding boots. In fact, except for helmet and gloves, I own no riding gear at all. My 7 bikes over the years have all been cruisers, and I've never had an accident and have only dropped a bike once, while going maybe 10 mph. Lucky??? Who knows. It's just my choice.

well, i've been wearing my alpinestars gps 3 waterproof boots for the past few days. they're growing on me. i like the sturdy ankle support of boots better than my squid nike shox.

a little change of subject..

as much as i like stunting- being only 19 years old with already one bike accident under my belt- i dont get why guys my age ride around on r1's or other litre bikes and go crazy..

i mean don't get me wrong, i saw like 4 guys today on gixxers and all sorts flying down the interstate or back roads.

the reason i got my bike was 1, gas mileage, and 2, i love a good rush. maybe i'm just maturing i guess..

i'll admit to popping a few wheelies and burning out a few times, but it got old real quick. i'd love to have an r1 or a gixxer 1000, but for now, i'm very happy w/ my self control and my svs.

ah, that's my rant for today!
