Hi guys,

I am new here, and just got my very first bike last week. It's a '98 Suzuki Savage LS650. It has 3000 miles on it, never been down, in perfect conditon. I paid $1600 for it :D

I am learning to ride right now, and am in a motorcycle class as we speak.

I did have a question about how to get the blue off the chrome on the exhaust? Any way to get that off??

Thanks and I look forward to talking to you guys!

There are several commercial products available (e.g., Blue Buster, Blue Away, Blue Job and yes that's really what it's called) that are specific to removing the blueing. And be ready for some exercise. It's not a wipe on, rub off proposition. Main thing here is the blueing is caused by heat, which may mean you need to re-jet your carbs.

Yay!!!! Another Savage Rider!!!!!

I ride a 2003 Savage and I have to tell you, for a starter bike, it is one sweet ride! I've put nearly 700 miles on my bike since September 1 and I couldn't be happier.

Welcome to the group. I look forward to chatting more with you.

Thanks guys!! I just finished the ABATE Motorcycle course and got my motorcycle endorsement today.

Took the buy for a little ride around town, and it was great!!! Alot different from riding around on the course in a parking lot :D

I will post a pic of my bike tomorrow.

I look forward to talking to you guys!

Welcome and you got a great bike. As far as the blueing on the pipe. One of the aftermarket products will help. The reason for the bluing is the bike is set very lean from the factory. A rejet and a new air filter will help with the blueing problem. If done correctly it will save you lots of time and elbow grease trying to remove the blue color.
