Hello
Iwork in an IT company. In our company we develop tracking anddiagnostic devices.
We are going to make a gps tracker formotorcycles. I want your advice to make it better if it isinteresting for you to participate in the process of creating a newdevice.

Main features of the tracker:
- real-time GPStracking;
- highly-sensetive accelerometer which will notify youof every move of your motorcycle;
- internal battery which chargesonly when you move, so it won't drain your motorcycle battery;
-route sharing;
- smartphone application;

If the trackerloses a gps/gsm signal you get a notification.
Which otherfunctions would you find useful? What functions do you think areunnecessary?
I will be thankful for any ideas. Feel free to saywhat you think.

Just a simple question - why do you want to invent something that already exists? I have apps on my phone that already record my movements and can transfer them to Google Earth, etc. What would be the key selling point of your device that would differentiate it from what's already out there? And why would I want another device to carry when most of the features are already available on my phone?

Seriously I know many, especially the young, like all the new technical gadgets and navigation systems. Until this year I carried and used old fashioned folding maps. I've traveled through 44 states on my bike over the years and managed to get where I needed and home with that old fashion analog system. Now I use my phone but still carry a map as back up.

Same here, and I feel like and "old coot" doing it every time my wife cocks and eyebrow at me when she sees the old paper map. Makes me want to tell her to "get off my lawn".

Seriously though, there are too many ways a phone can fail. I wouldn't want to rely on it in an emergency situation.

I think the OP was intending it to be a lojack type thing for bikes, not a device you'd need to carry with you. It probably is spam but still, if someone can develop a product that will be innovative or otherwise competitive on the market, I'm all for it.

Ah, if it was intended as a theft prevention / tracking device, that's a different story. In that case, it would have to be extremely small - on my bike, the only space where I could install such a device (away from the battery and not obviously visible) is in the tail, and I have very little space to work with (about 2 cubic inches). (The joys of owning a naked bike - no fairings to hide stuff behind).
