I sure hope not. Yuck. It looks like my Bandit was attacked by the retro maniacs.

yeah i quite like it in an ugly-but-beautiful kind of way

very much inspired by the 1st gen Gixxers

another colour scheme was all-black, and there was a red/black with white pinstripe (just like the gixxers)

having the Bandit engine, the possibilities of hotting it up would be endless

so how does it go?

have you done anything to it?

NZ seems to get lots of odd models dumped on them (half your luck)
I'm sure Suzuki Aust thinks this bike would never sell in Australia, but seeing as the old GSXRs wre so popular I'm not so sure. Triumph has sold heaps of new Bonnies here, so maybe the only retros that sell are more conservative types, and Harleys of course.

Went very close to buying an 85 GSXR but its hard to find one in good nick

(thanks for the PM)

gs1200ss

It's good for touring (the bars are actually quite a bit higher than the seat and 400KM off 1 tank)as well as good for having a blast. The fairing gives good protection. Being Jap spec it came with 180kph speed limiter(now disconnected), also headlights and front indicaters on all the time. I paid NZD13k - the new ones left are being sold for NZD10k - a lot of bike for the money!! It has 32mm carbs so really strong torque. High gearing means 125kph in top(5th) at 4K revs. I've had 8K in 4th - 220kph & still pulling. Original muffler was very restrictive so now has a Neptune (NZ) straight-thru - probably 10-15 extra bhp. Not had a good squirt since. Only black ones came in but metallic fleck in it so looks good. It gets good comments and probably looks better in the flesh than pics. I think Suzuki NZ are good and agressive in their pricing and for getting these bikes in from Japan. The owners I've met are good cross-section of ages and types and we all think the bike is great. Regards to the small western island!!

yeah i've seen pics of the black ones, they look great, very aggressive. i'm sure yours sounds aggressive too with the pipe

interesting your report of the bike confirms my impressions, that this would be a great bike for fast touring, especially with that fairing

i can't believe they're being sold for NZ$10k!!!

how do you go getting parts/warranty backup with thses models? it sounds like they were they an official import...

anyway, enjoy! you have a bloody nice bike!
