What side is the clutch? On some Suzuki's the clutch bolts can back out a little and catch the inside of the case. Does the noise increase speed with the engine? and if you roll the bike with the engine off does it still happen. What happens if you have the bike in gear. Is it possible the chain is dry or badly adjusted?

Change the plugs.
The condition of the old plugs can sometimes tell you a lot.

BUT......it is NOT unusual for "ticking" noises to become more pronounced as a bike ages.
Most often it is from the valves.
If it has solid lifters, might be time to check the adjustment.

What year model is it ?
