I'm changing my rear suspension on th GSXR600 I just bought cos the old one looks a little tatty and I got a second hand "as new" stock one for next to nothin. (Would have gone for ohlins if I could have afforded it)

I know I can physically change it but don't wanna mess with the setup without knowing what I'm doing and I don't know how the second hand one will be "as is" when I put it on my bike.

Is there any 'how to, and why' info on the net for suspension setup and should I attempt setting it up on my own or pay for a professional to do it? - I don't wanna loose it at the first bend I take.

Ta!

PS Chad...I don't think she will travel to B.C. just to see you although I will ask! :D

Well thanks for asking

to set the "sag" you are going to need 3 people. You to sit your butt on the bike, one to measure the amount of sag and the third to hold the bike up while you have your feet on the pegs.

I dunno haw hard you ride, but you'll probably want to set it for about 34-36 mm of sag. measuring height with no weight on the bike then measuring the height with you on the bike, feet on pegs="sag"

Thanks

I don't ride too hard, not experienced enough yet

any suggestions on the pre-load and rebound? Looking at the adjusters in the manual it'll probably be a bit time consuming with spanners and screwdrivers once I know what 'right' is :?

pity about not havin Ohlins!

forget the olins, seriously overrated, especally if you are inexpeiranced. I ride the heck outta my bike and I use all the stock suspension adjusted to my specks. get the spring preload set at a shop, only takes about half an hour. Then ride and play with the compression and recoil settings and put them where you like them.
