GSXR600 "wooly" '98 at low revs

Is this normal?

I'm new to the bike (just bought it after passing my test) but know it had a race can on it that was swapped back to stock before the sale, maybe even had race filter. :?

Reading other posts, if the Bike was mapped to the race bits is it now running rich on stock parts? (that may be a stupid question as I'm not even familiar with the bike technology!)

Not looking to tune the hilt off it (advice seem to be to learn to ride it first!) but I don't wanna pay to remap then remap again when I put a can and filter on in the future - would rather put them on now and remap once. :|

Advice I've read in the forums is good so thanks in advance to any who respond :)

Ya I noticed that and edited the title doh!

Just very 'wooly', 'thick', not as responsive as I thought it wuld be - hmmm difficult to describe
tough one - how do I tell?

bike story is - guy leaves girl, guy owes girl money, girl forces guy to give her the bike as part of the deal, guy cries and won't talk to her again, girl know's f*ck all about the bike, and neither do I other than it was well looked after and was a Grand cheaper than book value

Thanks guys.

Assuming it is jetted for the previous race can, would putting a race can back on the bike make it smoother or are the jets 'tuned' to match individual cans?

Dont wanna rejet for stock then back again later

...and timekills, the girl is cute but I prefer to ride the bike
