At what experience level would y'all recommend a new rider moving up to a GSXR 600 or 750.I will be buying a SV650 after I take MSF this month but I sat on a gixxer 750 today at the dealer and loved the way it felt but I know it would be a little too "tempermental" for me now....would it be safe to move up after a summer of ridding or would that still be too soon?

Try an SV out for that time, then see what you think. I think a year isn't quite enough, but everyone's different. It also depends on how much riding you do. Enjoy your riding and let us know when you get your bike!

From a racer's perspective, an SV 650 is a freaking awesome corner carver. Set the suspension up after you get it. Once you get familiar and more comfortable on it, you will realize that the torque and light weight of the machine will absolutely crush your buddies in the corners on the street. I am thinking of getting one to race one of these years.

why not1!?

The GSXR750 is a great bike. But, I say that it would depend on how confident you are in your riding ability. I own a 600. I love it and probably won't sell it for quite some time. Still, I have ridden the 750 and the first and second gear power curves are, needless to say, intense compared to that of a 600. It all depends on your personal riding experience.

my first bike ever was a 2003 gsxr-600 so as you can tell I haven't been riding that long. It's ok as long as you don't get hot headed and twist the throttle like a monkey. Trust me, I did and I scared the crap out of myself every single time. I am selling that now and looking at the sv650. the savage looks cool too for a change of pace.
