Today I got my first ride of the season in and i was wondering if anyone (who lives in cold weather climates like NY) lol took advantage of some riding weather?

Our roads were clear but we got a couple inches of snow this weekend.

Friday it was up to 53, so I bolted from work and got in 40 miles before dark. It's only been in the 20's today, but this week looks promising. We might even get some t-storms to clean up the roads.

I did nothing but ride yesterday, clocked up 100 miles.

The weather here yesterday was high winds, mild to heavy rain and was great fun to be in.

I've been out a few times (Chicago area). Most recently, I rode about 110 miles Saturday. I'm traveling out-of-town for the week so I won't be able to ride again till the weekend. I really hope that the weather is decent.

Feb 28 & 29, 2 hrs. on Sat and 5 Hrs. on Sun. (50 degree days) Took in out of winter storage (me and about 200 other bikes) and been out since. Me and my son usually don't ride much under 40 degrees. Depends how gusty the winds are and if the sun is out.

I havent let the weather stop me,just slows me down a little.

Done about 3000 miles during winter.Looking forward to summer weather so I can get the chicken strips off the edge of my tyres! :lol:

Funny though after we had a couple of 50 degree days 40 seems really cold to me now

Are you guys telling me that there are riders out there who don't ride their bike when it gets a bit chilly or damp? Well how disappointing! Only snow and bad frosts stop me. :wink:

I simply don't enjoy the ride as much when I'm bundled up and can't trust my tires. About 50 F is my cutoff, and I stay out of the rain.

No offense to anyone who rides in the cold, but as Rowdy said that ice can be anywhere on the road. Not to mention the cinders. And who can be as safe when all they can think about is how cold their fingers are or how you are going to evacuate that disgusting stuff coming out of your nose. :?

I seek double digits ( celsius ), problem is that even if it hits mid thirties at noon ( that would be 4 or 5 celsius at twelve o clock) up here the weather can change in the blink of an eye.

Ride one hour away from home in nice but cool weather and then try to ride back in a snowstorrm??? Yesterday that was the case, nice day 3 celsius no wind,sunny then BAM clouds roll in temps drop to -5 celsius and instant snowstorm that only lasted an hour but covered the roads in ice and snow.

No sir, I will calmly wait till the second week in april when the weather is more certain.

I got 200 plus miles in today! 75 miles to my job site in Santa Barbara. Got to watch pods of Dolphins come and go all day. They even put on a show while we ate lunch on the beach, jumping, doing flips, chasing each other etc. Then at the end of the day 125 miles home through the mountain canyons past a lake, more canyons, and back to civilization.

I love my commute!

Let's see . . . put 3000+ miles on the DR between July and October.

Got the Burger 5 weeks ago and it has 3000 on it already. I went to Springfield (175 miles) last Friday, met another Burger rider who came down from Rock Island (about the same distance). We ate lunch and then went on a 50 (or so) mile ride. I had 400.3 miles for the day - on a scooter!

i got about 700 kms on my bike so far this year, live in sault ste marie, been snow on the ground in the mornings...good timing my bike broke down, the stator went on it so the weather isn't too good for riding. hopefully it warms up next week so i can get some miles in.
