So, I ordered a Haynes manual for my bike. I had been waiting to see if they were ever going to update the '01 manual. Mine's an '02, and there's very little change (if any). Being the el-cheapo guy that I am (not broke . . . jsut cheap), I searched far and wide to find the cheapest Haynes manual I could find. Well . . .

I got it a few weeks ago, and the first thing I noticed is that they misspelled tire everywhere as "tyre." Hmmm . . . kind of strange . . . editor rode the short bus, maybe. Oh well, seems fine. But wait: They don't say to "pry" the cover off, they say to "prise" the cover off.

It is at this point that I open the book to the copyright and discover that it is of no use to me:

It is a British version of the Haynes manual that is written entirely in English, which I can't read (I read and write in American).

Nice, huh?

I can't seem to find the link I used to buy it, but if I do, I'll post it here as a no-no for us Americans.

Oh my... reminds me of when I was in Basingstoke back around '80 or so. I hadn't been there a week, sitting at the bus stop near our house, smokin' while waitin', and this guy comes up and asks if he could bum a ***. I sat there speechless for a couple of seconds before another guy (who knew I was a dumb Amurcan) pulled out a pack of smokes. He spent the next few weeks laughing at me about that....

Smoke? We used to call it rolling a ***, and I'm not mean anymore (actually, I don't have anywhere else to keep all those extra wristwatches).
