If the stations fuel supply was low you may have gotten some water and gas from the bottom of thier storage tank.

That sounds EXACTLY like mosture in the motor. When moisture is in there the thing will idle rough and when you throttle opens it could buck and spit some smoke out the back. Same crap happened with my car........ONLY when it rained.

That's probably bad gas. I only run 92 or + in my car and bike(s). And I only put in Shell, Sunoco, Mobil. Never had problems. Even left Mobil in for three months in the Harley this winter with no ill effects.

I hope you didn't do Speedway or Clark or something. I've even witnessed BP gas stop a bike in its tracks. I stop at Speedway for pop, not for gas.

Well having an SV thier is a little know problem to their design. The front cylinder just under your radiator has a problem with water fly off from the front wheel which and fill the plug boot with water and cause the engine to run poorly due to the low spark if any in the one cylinder. It's never happen to me as much as I've ridden in the rain but it's a common problem with the V-Twin SV engine placement and design.

Also the SV gas light comes on blinking with 3/4th to 1 gal left in the tank then goes steady when your down to less then 1/2 gallon left. Considering my carbed 02 SV gets 41-43 mpg (135-144 miles till light comes on) your FI should be there or more.

I'm gonna bet once it sits and the water clears it should be running fine again. The fender extender to the front fender or a flap on the lower radiator in front of the spark plug hole can also solve with water bogging issuse. Also adding goobs of dielectric grease to the front boot to help seal out water can help too.

Again I've ridden in normal to heavy rain for over 30mins before but didn't have this issues.

Cheers!!

i was in the rain for an hour and a half yesterday, double my normal riding time. It sucked. I am going to be taking a look at both my spark plug and my air filter today. I tried starting her this morning and she started fine right away then 20 seconds later she died right down idling at 1000 rpms with the choke all the way closed...should have been revving to about 3 grand at the time...then she died...tried again, same effect...I did fill up at a speedway. It didnt rain alot more after i got home, i had a cover on her so i doubt the air filter got to breathe to well to release any water in her. thanks everyone for your help. if you can think of anything else let me know

Have you called the gas station to ask if others had a problem with any gas purchased that night??? Also make sure you stick like a piece of paper or cloth into your spark plug hole before you remove the plug cause if there is water down in there you don't want that falling into your engine.
